What's in a (new) name?

You might have noticed some things changing around here and on social media. Most noticeable is the business name has changed. This has been in the works for a while and we are really excited about it because the process of rebranding has helped us clarify our core values and our motivation for doing the work we do. Want to get to know us a little better? This blog post is a good place to start, and we are also always happy to book a free consultation or answer questions by email or phone.

If you’ve ever named a child or a business, you’ll know it can be a process – with strong opinions about what not to do, and fraught with uncertainty. The name Exhale Parenting popped up at the end of a meeting at the library during which we circled around all kinds of ideas, exhausted thesaurus apps, debated various approaches, and Evelyn, Cecilia’s youngest daughter, ate all the good snacks. We both instantly felt good about the name – it just clicked. The more we thought about it, the more right it felt.

Exhaling is powerful. It’s the breath when we let go, when we settle, relax, accept, release, and empathize. In some of the meditation practice I’ve done, it’s the breath in which we allow everything to be, just as it is. An exhale is the shaky release before the stories and the tears start to flow and the cleansing breath after they’ve ended. It’s a sigh of relief.

This captures so perfectly how we want our clients to feel. We want to create and hold the space for you to have exactly the experience you’re having, without judgement or a rush to change. We want you to feel the relief and ease that comes from knowing you’re being cared for on every level, by people who are knowledgeable, creative, and non-judgmental. We want you to be able to rest, to pause, to accept your experience of parenthood as it is. We want to celebrate the joys with you, we want to hear about the rough moments and the billion questions, and we want to reflect back to you all of your unique skills and wisdom (believe us, they’re there!) We want you to find in that stillness your own confidence, resilience, and beauty.

Take a deep breath in and let it go. Feel that peace? That’s what we are offering - at any stage of parenting.
