Introduction to Babywearing

This class is FREE but please register so we can make sure to have enough seats available!

New baby or one on the way? Learn how to have a happy baby and free hands at the same time! Babywearing - using a cloth carrier - is your answer.

This session will talk about all the carriers available at Groovy Mama, one of Regina's fabulous independent baby boutiques. We will talk about why babywearing is awesome and how to do it safely and comfortably. You'll get a handle on the pros and cons of each carrier and a sense of what will work best for your family. You will also get a chance to try out the demo carriers and see what works for you - and of course you'll be able to purchase that night when you find the one that makes you feel like a superhero!

Please note: this class is more "what are my choices?" and less "how do I use this thing?" If you're looking for personalized instruction on how to use a carrier you already own, please consider booking a private consultation with me where I can give you the hands-on instruction you deserve. I'm always happy to answer questions and give general info, but the group setting means I can't offer individual instruction in this class.

Bright Beginnings - a new kind of parent & baby class

Just want to register? Register in minutes right here.

Your baby's brain is growing faster than it ever will. Maybe you feel like you're just getting a handle on things, only to have everything shift all over again. Wouldn't it be nice to stay ahead of all the changes your little one is experiencing?

Bright Beginnings is different from other parent & baby classes and groups. Over 6 weeks, you'll learn about your baby's development and ways to support their growth in:

    • motor skills
    • language development & communication
    • social & emotional skills
    • bonding & secure attachment

This class will help you understand your baby and give you practical skills you can use to make every day a little brighter. It will be taught collaboratively by Nichole Forbes of Regina Speech Centre, and Anna Baker of Anna Baker Parenting.

For parents and babies up to 9 months.

Dates for this session are in flux at the moment - stay tuned or join my mailing list for updates.

    Investment: $225 per family.

Questions? Contact Nichole (306-533-9105) or Anna (306-529-2101) or abparenting@gmail.com

    Register online here.

    Back Carries

Carrying your baby on your back can be liberating for many parents, but it can be hard for us humans to get started. This class will help! Click here to register now

This class is for you if:

    • your baby can sit independently*
    • you're ready for the freedom that back carries offer
    • you have experience wearing baby on your front in any kind of carrier, preferably but not necessarily the one you plan to use for back carrying

This class might not be for you if:

    • your baby can't yet sit on their own - don't worry, I will offer this class again!
    • you are brand new to babywearing - it's best to learn how to carry baby on your front before moving on to back carries.

Please bring the carrier or carriers that you plan to use to carry your baby on your back. I will have my demo collection for you to try if you are interested in purchasing a carrier that works on your back or trying something new.

    Babies and toddlers are welcome.

This class can be a bit of a workout, so dress comfortably, preferably in a snug fitting top as loose layers tend to move around a lot, and bring a water bottle.

Please note that this class has both a minimum and a maximum registration. If I don't reach the minimum registration, I'll contact you with upcoming dates. If registrations exceed the maximum, the class will appear as sold out when you try to register online. If you send me an email, I'll add you to the wait list and let you know about upcoming dates.

    * In order to attend this class, your baby must be able to sit independently, meaning they can get themselves into a sitting position on their own and maintain it. This milestone is important for safety reasons - a baby who is able to sit independently is unlikely to get into a position where their airway is compromised.

    Woven Wrap Basics

    Woven Wrap Basics

    Register now.

Woven and hybrid wraps are some of the most versatile carriers in the world. But they can look a bit daunting and require practice to feel comfortable and confident. The good news is that it doesn't take much to get there, and this hands-on workshop is the shortcut to ease and confidence with wrapping.

This workshop might be for you if:

    • you are interested in woven wraps but aren't sure if they're for you
    • you own a woven wrap but you're struggling to feel comfortable and confident with it
    • you want to learn some of the fundamental skills of woven wrapping and master a few front and hip carries
    • you want to be one of the people who make woven wrapping look easy!

This workshop might not be for you if:

    • you are a very experienced wrapper
    • you want to learn one particular advanced carry, including back carries - a private consultation or my new back carries class would better meet your needs
    • you want to explore other types of carriers at the workshop - my intro session might be a better fit for you

You don't need to own a wrap to join this class, but please indicate in the registration form whether you'll be bringing a wrap with you so that I can make sure to have the correct number of wraps on hand.

Dress comfortably - snugger single layers like a t-shirt tend to work best - and be prepared to work (this class can be a good arm workout!) Babies are always welcome but not required.

    Register now.
